Joint Task Force deputy commander retires after 39 years of service

MARIETTA, Ga. — Colonel Wallace E. Steinbrecher, after serving 39 years, retires from the U.S. Army National Guard on June 16, while serving as Deputy Commander for Joint Task Force North, Fort Bliss, Texas.
 
Georgia National Guard forces have supported the JTF-N mission within the Southwest region under the command of Steinbrecher since October of 2019.
 
In attendance at the retirement ceremony will be Command Sergeant Major Jeff Logan, state command sergeant major, Georgia National Guard. Major Gen. Randall V. Simmons, Jr., commander, JTF-N, will host the ceremony.
 
When asked what comes next after wearing the uniform for the last time, Steinbrecher stated, “When you do   something like this for as long as I have, it’s hard to go from full throttle to hard stop and it’s hard to envision what it’s going to look like when you’re at full stop.”
