23-002 | June 29, 2023

June 29, 2023   — MARIETTA, Ga. – Fort Gordon’s Youth Challenge Academy had ten cadets participate in a community service event hosted by Affinis Hospice in completing multiple tasks for a Caregiver Pamper Party in Augusta, Ga., June 23, 2023.

These cadets assisted these agencies in setting up displays, serving food, escorting residents to their designated areas and moving furniture.

“All ten cadets were respectful, mannerly, helpful and a true joy to have around,” said Sara Simmons, community care liaison. “The day ran smoothly largely because of them.”

Careforth and Wellcare agencies, who helped organized the party, also extended their sincere thanks and hope to work with the cadets again.

The National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program was established by Congress in 1993 to turn around the lives of young men and women between the ages of 16 and 18 who are experiencing difficulty in completing traditional high school. This is a free program open to Georgia residents.
