Georgia Air National Guard

The Georgia Air National Guard is comprised of nearly 2,800 Citizen Airmen organized into two wings and geographically separated units across the state.

Based in Savannah, the 165th Airlift Wing operates the new C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. This unit provides critical airlift capabilities for state and national objectives.

The 116th Air Control Wing, located at Robins Air Force Base, is undergoing a significant mission transformation. Following the divestment of the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) mission, which concluded with a final operational sortie in September 2023, the wing has embraced new roles. These new missions include the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Integration (RPA-I), advanced Battle Management Command and Control (BMCS), and cyber operations. A new Battle Management Combined Operations Complex broke ground in May 2025 to support these evolving mission sets for units at Robins.

Additionally, the Air Dominance Center in Savannah stands as a premier air-to-air combat training environment for 4th and 5th-generation fighter aircraft, hosting major exercises such as Sentry South.
