Members of the Georgia National Guard Counterdrug Task Force assisted state and local law enforcement agencies in an investigation that resulted in the seizure of more than 13 kilograms (nearly 29 pounds) of fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs, along with 10 firearms, cash and other property (pictured above).

Unit and community history celebrated at armory rededication

The Georgia National Guard celebrated its long history in Cedartown Georgia with a ceremony rededicating the Herbert R. Bridges National Guard Armory. The ribbon cutting ceremony followed extensive renovations of the facility that was constructed in 1955.

Georgia DoD Concludes Joint Wildfire Suppression Operations in South Georgia

MARIETTA, Ga.– The Georgia Department of Defense recently supported the Georgia Forestry Commission and the U.S. Forest Service with more than 100 guardsmen dedicated to wildfire suppression operations in South Georgia from April 23-30.

The Georgia Department of Defense (DoD) is preparing to assist the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) and other state and local authorities with wildfire suppression in South Georgia.

MARIETTA, Ga. - Soldiers of the Georgia National Guard’s 78th Troop Command and 781st Troop Command Detachment welcomed citizens and local leaders of Marietta and Cobb County to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated South Cobb Readiness Center in Marietta, Georgia, March 27, 2026. U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Richard Wilson, commander of the Georgia National Guard, was the ceremony’s keynote speaker.
