ATLANTA – What began as a routine morning run ended with Command Sgt. Maj. Jon A. Ring risking his life to save another. For his actions, he received the Soldier’s Medal, the Army’s highest award for heroism not involving conflict with an enemy, during a ceremony Sept. 22 at the Georgia State Capitol.

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The 49th Annual Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Georgia (EANGGA) Conference gathered enlisted Soldiers, Airmen, and their families to foster professional development, mutual support, and advocacy. As the state-level annual meeting for the association, the conference serves as a forum to elevate the welfare and prestige of the Georgia National Guard while conducting critical organizational business—all to advance policies and benefits that impact Guardsmen and their loved ones.

Georgia Guard Engineers Deploy in Support of USAFRICOM

The Georgia Army National Guard’s 863rd Engineer Utilities Detachment (EUD) is deploying in support of United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM). A send-off ceremony was held Sept. 17 at Hunter Army Airfield, Ga., before Soldiers boarded a flight to conduct final training in Texas enroute to mobilizing overseas for a year-long rotation.

Georgia National Guard’s 111th EW Company Leads the Way in Electromagnetic Warfare Modernization

The Georgia Army National Guard’s 111th Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) Company, based out of Forest Park, Ga. is rapidly establishing itself as a leader in the Army’s modernization efforts within the electromagnetic spectrum. Following its official activation this June, the unit has recently completed a dedicated field training exercise, Operation Golden Corridor; and supported the Indiana National Guard’s 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) during a Warfighter Exercise (WFX 25-05), demonstrating its growing capabilities and impact.

Georgia DOD Hosts NORAD and USNORTHCOM Training to Bolster Domestic Response Capabilities

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Defense hosted a mobile training team (MTT) from North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) to deliver a five-day Joint Forces Headquarters/Joint Task Force Staff Training Course (JSTC). The course, which was conducted August 17-22, 2025, at the Clay National Guard Center, focused on enhancing Georgia’s homeland defense capabilities and strengthening interagency collaboration.
