48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team

The 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT), is headquartered in Macon, Ga. and consists of more than 4,200 Guardsmen who operate out of 28 armories across the state. The brigade is organized into seven subordinate battalions: the 1st Squadron, 108th Cavalry Regiment; 1st Battalion, 118th Field Artillery Regiment; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment; 148th Brigade Support Battalion; and 177th Brigade Engineer Battalion. Units of the 48th IBCT range from Dalton in the north Georgia mountains to Valdosta in the south and its Soldiers represent a cross section of Georgia’s communities and civilian occupations. Throughout its history, the 48th IBCT, “Macon Volunteers”, has supported our nation in peace and at war. With campaign streamers from the American Revolution to Afghanistan, the 48th IBCT has a rich history of service to the nation and state of Georgia.

Mission Statement:
The 48th IBCT achieves platoon-level proficiency in Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) and Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) by the end of FY27 by leveraging all resources (training time, equipment, active duty, and National Guard facilities) to posture for CRX 27-03 (04-18 June 2027) and JRTC 28-10, while maintaining readiness for no-notice or short-notice state and national missions, including Defense Support of Civilian Authorities (DSCA).
