Reserve Retirement (20 Years of Satisfactory Service)

Airmen in the Ga ANG who complete 20 years of Satisfactory Service are eligible for a Reserve Retirement. A satisfactory year requires a minimum of 50 points.

Helpful Information:

- When completing a standard Reserve Retirement, the Air Force system requires you to apply for retirement again at age 60 to initiate your pay.
- The Reserve Retirement Counseling Cell (RRCC) is a great POC at ARPC for all retirement questions including pay. You can contact them at 1-800-682-1929 or arpc.dpt.rrcc@us.af.mil. They also assist members with submitting their age 60 retirement application.

- Apply for retirement between twelve and six months prior to desired action. If applying with less than six months to effective retirement date, a six month wavier is required for ARPC.
- Once an application is submitted, it can be a difficult process to withdraw retirement or change the date.
- DD Form 2656 Helpful Information
  - Block 4: Must be your confirmed retirement effective date
  - Block 7: For AGR/Active-Duty Retirement, choose B1
  - Block 7: For Reserve Retirement, RRPA, and Age 60, choose B2
  - Block 10-13: Complete bank information, do not click Active Duty
  - Block 41-42: Wet signatures are preferred. If signing digitally, ensure all parties sign on the same date. Anyone may serve as your witness, excluding dependents receiving your benefits
  - Block 43-44: This section is only required if the member is declining SBP. The members spouse must sign with a notary present
- Obtaining Retired ID
  - • Bring in two forms of ID and retirement order to any DEERS office to obtain Retired ID.
  - • Members’ dependents may also receive retired dependent ID cards
